As a guest, you will be able to enjoy boat rides, barbecue parties and home-cooked Chinese dinner such as chicken kapitan curry, jiu hu char (stir-fried yam bean with cuttlefish) and fish head curry, enjoy gorgeous sunsets by the balcony or watch boats bobbing on the water from 100 year old stilt house at Chew Jetty.
Chew Jetty is part of the Penang Clan Jetty, Weld Quay and is the biggest among the 6jetties in Weld Quay. The other five are the Lim, Lee, Tan, Yeoh and the Chap Seh Keo (mixed surname) jetties. These are like floating villages. Each jetty comprises of "terrace" houses linked by planked walkways over the water.

According to Chew Siew Pheng, living on the jetty is a unique experience. When she gets home from work, all her stress and worries seem to fly away. Once one steps off the busy road onto the jetty, it’s like a different world where life is serene and simple.
My suggestion is to time your stay so that it coincides with the colourful annual worship of the Jade Emperor on the eve of the ninth day of the Chinese New Year.
