1 July 2007: Ipoh Open International Run
Location: Dataran Ipoh, Perak
This is an exciting event suitable for everybody interested to see the city of Ipoh on foot. You may be participating in a run but there’s definitely no one stopping you from taking your own time to enjoy the view along the way. Even locals will find it interesting although they have been using the same route for years but never took the opportunity to actually see the surrounding areas.

13 – 15 July 2007: Rainforest World Music Festival 2007- Sarawak
Location: Sarawak Cultural Village, 45 minutes drive from the city center.
In the interior of mystical Borneo, amidst a living museum known as the Sarawak Cultural Village, the world’s musicians gather to celebrate a fusion of nature, culture and ethnic music. Incorporating workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jam sessions and mesmerising evening performances, this magical event is set to thrill musical aficionados.
UPDATE 29 January 2007: 3,000 tickets have already been sold, out of which 60% were by foreigners. Tickets are priced at RM80 for a one-day pass (RM40 for children) and RM100 for a 3-day pass (RM100 for children).

3-4 August 2007: Sultan’s Cup Terengganu Endurance Challenge
Location: Setiu, Terengganu
This competition tests the endurance of competing horses in four categories, i.e 120km, 80km, 40km and 26km. Some 15 countries such as Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Australia, UAE and US are expected to participate in this competition which happens to be the official trial race for FEI World Endurance 2008.

31 August 2007: 50 Years Nationhood Celebration-Merdeka Month Celebration
Location: Putrajaya and throughout Malaysia
August 31, 2007 commemorates Malaysia’s 50th year of independence. This historic event is celebrated in a joyous mood by Malaysians from all walks of life over a one month period. Malaysians display their love for the country by proudly flying the Jalur Gemilang or the national flag at every premise. A host of activities is held in each state including parades, exhibitions of Malaysia’s history and fireworks displays, culminating in a grand parade attended by Their Majesties; The King and Queen, Prime Minister, dignitaries and the public. Join us as we celebrate Malaysia’s 50 years of independence. A free open-air concert is held on the eve of ‘Merdeka’ to jumpstart the celebration, while the Merdeka Day festivities kick off with a grand parade at every major city. Other celebrations are also held nationwide.
